MILE lab is housed in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science. The lab is one of the premier research centers in India focusing on a wide range of areas such as Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Image Processing, Speech Recognition, Document Image Analysis and Recognition, Online Handwriting Recognition, Text to Speech Synthesis in Indian languages and Natural Language Processing. The lab was headed by Prof. A G Ramakrishnan.
Currently we are working on improving the quality of low resolution degraded document images for better recognition and readability using deep learning techniques.
Building automatic speech recognition system using neural networks and finite state transducers to recognize Tamil utterances covering a large vocabulary.
